My home has been transformed into a smart, efficient space by the Kasa Smart Plug HS103P4. These plugs are incredibly easy to set up and integrate seamlessly with my existing Wi-Fi network without the need for a separate hub. The Kasa app is user-friendly, allowing me to control my devices remotely with just a few taps on my smartphone. I love the scheduling feature, which lets me automate lights and other appliances, saving energy and reducing my electricity bill. The compact design is great, as it doesn’t block other outlets. They also work flawlessly with voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant, adding to the convenience. I’ve had zero connectivity issues, and the response time is instantaneous. These smart plugs have definitely made my life easier and my home smarter. A solid five-star product for anyone looking to upgrade their home technology!

Very Simple to Set Up, Works Very Well, Alexa Link is Great and Easy to Use

The price for the 4-pack of this product is great, and it is really good. Setup is easy once you ignore the “smart plug” option in the app that seems to look like this unit. Pick the setup option for the “Smart Plug Mini,” and everything works quickly and easily. The app developer and the marketing department need to be in better sync. One fun thing is that any of the smart outlets that are set up and app-controlled already will automatically be added to the Alexa list when you go to the “3rd Party” section to link to the Alexa app. Any smart outlets you set up later may need to be discovered and added to the Alexa device list via a simple “Add” process. It’s worth noting that there is a long pull-down list of compatible devices, and this product does not show up under “Kasa.” Keep scrolling to the “TP-LINK KASA” entry. From there, it’s easy peasy, click click, discovered, done. Some other observations include naming your plugs the way you want to use for voice control. I named them ‘Kasa Plug 1″ then 2, 3, and 4. Then I ended up resetting one and starting it over to name it a more useful and intuitive name (Christmas Tree), since nobody but me knew the numbers. It helps everyone else use voice commands.

Kasa Smart Plug HS103P4: Simple and Awesome!

Why not try “Smart Plugs” since they kept coming up when I was looking for timers for my Christmas Lights? The reviews for all sorts of smart plugs were 50/50 as I was reading them. Then these Kasa Smart Plugs came up, and the reviews were awesome! So I ordered them, and they are HomeKit (Apple/Siri) compatible. They are also compatible with others. I used my iPhone to set them up, and it could not have been easier! Programming them was just as simple. I set them to turn on my Christmas lights at sunset (no more chasing the time off when it gets dark) and shut off at midnight. And as a bonus, they have energy usage and time on in the app. It was easy for me to calculate how much it was costing me in electricity to run my LED Christmas lights. Turns out, it’s about 10 cents a week! And to think a 4-pack is under $40, which is less than $10 a piece, is just mind-blowing to me considering how powerful and simple they are to use. I have 3 of them running different strings of lights and grouped them as “Christmas Lights.” If I want to turn them on early and impress the neighbors, all I say is, “Siri, turn on my Christmas Lights,” and all of them turn on perfectly. I have told a bunch of my neighbors about them, and everyone has ordered them. Now if I could only get a commission on what I’ve sold!

Good! But There’s Some Things You Should Know…

They worked great when I successfully paired these smart plugs with Apple HomeKit. They are easy to set up and offer very good value. However, there are a few things you should know. Firstly, the switches may appear slightly more narrow in the product image shown on Amazon, but the other product images that list the dimensions are accurate. They stack nicely over/under each other on a plug, but on horizontal power strips, they may be too wide to go side by side. Secondly, at first, they may seem to have a short range. This is because I found that when pairing them, they needed to be in the same room as my hub, but after pairing, you can move them further away. Thirdly, they need to be on a 2.4 GHz WIFI network. Lastly, it’s worth mentioning that they make a very audible click when used. It’s not louder than a loud light switch click, but it’s definitely not silent. I found it completely acceptable, but I wouldn’t use it for a child’s night light or anything else that needs to be very quiet for some reason.

Kasa Smart Plug HS103P4: Easy Set Up, Works with Alexa

So far, I have only used two of the smart plugs from the 4-pack, but both work well. I installed the Kasa app on my phone and did the initial set up with that. Then, I opened my Alexa app and searched for new devices, and it immediately picked them both up. Alexa has been able to operate them without any problems. However, there are a few downsides I have encountered. Firstly, the scheduling feature in the Kasa app doesn’t work at all for me. I ended up creating a “routine” within the Alexa app, and that worked fine. Secondly, if you change the name/mode of your internet, you have to completely remove the plug from the app and reinstall it. You can’t just update the wireless source, password, etc. This might be a pain if you use it for travel or frequently change passwords for security reasons.

Kasa Smart Plug HS103P4: Works Great, Easy to Set Up!

As I am not the most tech-savvy, I had a bit of trouble setting up the first one, likely my own fault. However, after that, I got the hang of it, and the rest were easy as pie. You don’t need Alexa to use these smart plugs; the functionality in the app is straightforward and easy to figure out. I love that I can put my Christmas tree on a timer and turn off my lamp from my phone instead of struggling to reach its button. These smart plugs have lots of different uses and are a great addition to any home. They are reliable and easy to set up, making them a good buy.

Pros:

  • Voice control: The Kasa Smart Plug HS103P4 works seamlessly with Alexa and Google Home Assistant, allowing you to control your home electronic appliances with just your voice. This hands-free convenience adds a new level of ease and efficiency to your daily life.
  • Smart Outlet Control from anywhere: With the Kasa app, you can easily turn on and off your smart home devices from anywhere using your smartphone. Whether you’re at home, in the office, or on vacation, you have full control over your electronics.
  • Scheduling feature: The Kasa smart plug allows you to set timer or countdown schedules, so you can automate the on and off times of your appliances. This is especially useful for things like lamps, fans, and Christmas lights, helping you save energy and create a more efficient home.

Cons:

  • 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection required: One downside to the Kasa Smart Plug is that it requires a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection. If your home network only supports 5GHz, you may need to upgrade or consider a different smart plug option.
  • Bulky design: Some users have mentioned that the Kasa Smart Plug is a bit bulky, which can make it stick out from the wall and obstruct other outlets. If you have limited space or prefer a more compact design, you may want to explore other options.
  • Limited compatibility with other smart home systems: While the Kasa Smart Plug works well with Alexa and Google Home Assistant, it may not be compatible with other smart home systems or platforms. If you have a different smart home setup, you may need to consider alternative smart plug options.

    Conclusion

Overall, the Kasa Smart Plug HS103P4 has truly made my life easier and my home smarter. With its user-friendly app, voice control capabilities, and scheduling features, I have been able to enjoy the convenience of controlling my devices from anywhere. The energy-saving benefits and reliable performance further add to its appeal. I highly recommend this smart plug to anyone looking to upgrade their home technology.
